News. BBC – Children in Need.
This year, Dataquest decided to get involved with the community more and sponsor ‘BBC – Children in Need’. We wanted to give something back to the community and what better way than to help our next generation – who in fact are our future!
Dataquest ultimately wanted to help bring smiles to the faces of disadvantaged children who are affected by disorders, disabilities or living in poverty.
We wanted to help enrich their lives and hope that our donation has helped the charity achieve their mission.
The team at Dataquest got together and decided to raise money by playing a game, which involved everyone bringing in a baby picture and guessing who each other were as babies!! The reaction of course, was a lot of ‘oohhhhs’ and ‘aaaahhhs’, but the ultimate goal of giving back to the community was achieved.
Children in Need
Our mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. Our vision is a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential.
The BBC's first broadcast appeal for children was a five-minute radio programme on Christmas Day in 1927. Since then the charity has gone from strength to strength, with the first televised appeal in 1955 'Children's Hour Christmas Appeal'. The Christmas Day Appeals continued on TV and radio right up until 1979 and it wasn’t until 1980 that the appeal was broadcasted on BBC One in a new telethon format.
The ‘Children in Need’ mascot didn’t make his debut until 1985 and was fondly named ‘Pudsey’. Our mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. Our vision is a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential.
